Motor Neuron Disease

Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is a progressive neurological disorder that damages motor neurons, leading to muscle weakness, wasting, and paralysis. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is the most common form. Symptoms include muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), speech problems, and breathing difficulties. The exact cause is unknown, though genetic and environmental factors may contribute. There is no cure, but treatments like riluzole, physical therapy, respiratory support, and assistive devices help improve quality of life.
