Guillain Barre Syndrome

Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is a rare autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system, leading to rapid-onset muscle weakness and paralysis. It often follows a viral or bacterial infection. Symptoms begin with tingling and weakness in the legs, progressing to the upper body and, in severe cases, leading to respiratory failure. Diagnosis involves nerve conduction studies and cerebrospinal fluid analysis. Treatment includes intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), plasma exchange, and supportive care for recovery.
